Brot für die Welt An interactive world map for shared climate justice

As a protestant aid organisation, Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt) campaigns globally for human rights, education, democracy, food security and education about climate change. As part of its educational work, Bread for the World develops teaching materials on various topics. wegewerk was commissioned to further develop its map and game application ‘Together for Climate Justice’. The interactive world map explores the consequences of climate change around the globe using various knowledge quizzes.
An application-orientated web application
The map application already existed as a static print and PDF version. The quiz elements were provided by an external app application with limited flexibility. However, forwarding them to the app was not very practical for use in the classroom. In addition, the rigid form of the map severely limited the management and further development of the content. The aim was therefore to create a flexible, digital application that solves these problems and fulfils all data protection requirements at the same time.
A map that is fun
While the familiar design of the Bread for the World (Brot für die Welt) teaching materials has been retained, the entire technical infrastructure has been redeveloped and new content and question options have been added. The map application offers space for significantly more game strands, which can be discovered independently by the pupils on the map. In addition to classic question types, the quiz options also include sorting questions and cloze texts, as well as estimation and picture questions. The main thing is not to get bored!
The new one-pager is now much better suited to its target group and motivates students to learn. It is ideal for use in school lessons and conveys knowledge on the topic of climate justice in a fun way.
